Welenshok Coaching Academy conducts educational outing to KVK Tuensang

Tuensang: Visiting team also learns about importance of mental wellbeing during tour

The teaching faculty and students of Welenshok Coaching Academy, Tuensang, made a visit to Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute), Tuensang on 18th November as part of an educational tour.

Farm Manager, KVK Tuensang, Yanger I Kichu, was the resource person during the outing. Kichu explained about the importance of nutritional garden to enhance dietary diversity by providing micronutrients through constant supply of fruits and vegetables. He enlightened the WCA team the benefits of vermi compost and stated that it was richer in nutrients.

Yanger I Kichu also highlighted key points about procedures

– Integrated nutrients management

– Organic farming

– Drip irrigation and temperature

Besides learning about agriculture, the faculty and students of Welenshok Coaching Academy, Tuensang also learned about mental health from Naong Monyu Chang. She said that a healthy mind is one of the most important factors in one’s life, however, mental disorders have become common in today’s time.

Mental illness affects a person’s mood, thinking and behaviour, she added and encouraged the young people to care for their mental well being. Chang explained that a healthy mind enables one to cope up with the stress, realize one’s abilities, learn well and work well also to contribute to the community.
