A bus carrying BSF personnel of 62 Battalion ‘F’ COY met with an accident between Tsungki Bazaar ‘2’ and Mokokchung Doyang Bridge in Chukitong Range of Wokha district on 5 January.
According to a DIPR report, the BSF personnel were traveling from Dimapur to Akuluto for election duty for the forthcoming general election of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly when the bus they were on met with an accident.
The incident is reported to have occurred around 2.40pm.
The bus, carrying 41 BSF personnel including the driver and the handyman, rolled down 50 to 60 feet below the road.
According to the report, 25 personnel were injured during the accident. Five BSF personnel including the handyman were seriously injured.
The handyman was taken to Oking Hospital Kohima the same evening and the four BSF personnel were taken to Guwahati for further medical treatment. Personnel who suffered minor injuries are now being given treatment at Wokha District Hospital.
District Administration, Wokha Police led by SP Wokha Atula T Imchen, IPS, and some members of the Chukitong range public rushed to the accident site soon after hearing about the incident to extend help.
DEF Wokha also provided blankets to the injured personnel admitted at District Hospital Wokha.
