Wokha District marked the 76th Republic Day at the Local Ground, Wokha, today. The Minister of Roads and Bridges, Nagaland, G. Kaito Aye, graced the event as the special guest.
The day began with the unfurling of the national flag across various government offices, institutions, official residences, private homes, shops, and business establishments.
The celebration officially commenced with the arrival of the parade contingents, officials, and the general public. The parade was reviewed by the Superintendent of Police, Wokha. Special guest G. Kaito Aye unfurled the national flag at the local ground and took the Rashtriya Salute from seven well-disciplined parade contingents. The national anthem followed, after which the Minister delivered the Republic Day address.
The parade for the 76th Republic Day was commanded by Assistant Commandant of the 7th NAP, Km. Ngimchule Nampeung, NPS, with Inspector A/7th NAP Nzanthung Lotha as the Parade 2nd-in-command.
The parade included seven contingents: DEF Wokha led by ABSI N. Bipen Ngullie, 7th NAP led by ABSI Konathung Lotha, Home Guards & Civil Defence led by SI Longtsubemo Ezung, Ex-Servicemen led by HAV Samuel Ezung, Bharat Guides led by Epibeni Murry, Bharat Scouts led by Ajamo Humtsoe, Fernbrook School Band Party led by Angelina Mozhui

The cultural programme showcased traditional performances by the Longsa Women’s Cultural Troupe as well as a performance by Yantso Khen (Male Voice) from Wokha Town and the Akuk Cultural Club. The students of Santsuo School, Wokha, also presented a One-Act Play.
Following the ceremony, Minister G. Kaito Aye inaugurated a series of stalls, followed by a state lunch at the Deputy Commissioner’s official residence. The day concluded with an Exhibition Football Match between DC’s XI and the Heads of Departments, with prizes awarded to the winning teams. The closing ceremony featured the Beating of the Retreat by DEF, Wokha.
Special visits were made to several locations, including the Founding Harbor, Children’s Home – IRCS Wokha, Morning Star Children’s Home, SBI Wokha (Main Branch), and the Sub-Jail at DCCI Wokha.
