The 4th edition of the Late Nungshizenla Badminton Tournament, established in 2021, concluded successfully on 21 December 2024. The event, which commenced on 20 December, celebrated another year of spirited sportsmanship and camaraderie.
The tournament, organized to honor the memory of Late Nungshizenla, the first Associate Pastor (Women) of Marepkong Baptist Church, witnessed enthusiastic participation from players across various categories.
In the Under-13 Singles category, Shilumanen emerged as the champion, showcasing remarkable skill and determination. Tiatemjen finished as the runner-up in a closely contested final.
The Senior Doubles category witnessed intense competition, with the duo of Otongtang and Omachir clinching the championship title. Ajay and Lanuyanger secured the runners-up position after a thrilling match.
Aimed at nurturing young players and encouraging camaraderie among both junior and senior players, the tournament provided a valuable platform for budding talents to learn, unlearn, and develop their skills. Players encouraged one another, fostering bonds of friendship, respect, and discipline, which are essential values in both sports and life.
The event not only served as a platform for talent display but also upheld the legacy and contributions of Late Nungshizenla to the community. Organizers expressed gratitude to the participants, spectators, and sponsors for their support in making the tournament a grand success.
The tournament was held at Thy-Coon Cottage, Marepkong Ward, and was chaired by Aosenla. The program began with an invocation by Imnaienla, Associate Pastor for Christian Education and Ministries (APCEM), Marepkong Baptist Church, followed by a welcome address delivered by Takusunep Pongen.
