The Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) has expressed shock by the reprehensible act of aggression towards the President, CPO, and citizens on February 13 by the Maova village authority and its citizens.
Condemning the incident, the SAPO conveyed to the Kuki community that such actions, representing an alien culture, would not be tolerated, as they imperil the very fabric of the society.
Stating that Chakhroma citizens have coexisted peacefully with villages under our jurisdiction since time immemorial, with no legitimate grounds for insecurity, the SAPO said their developmental endeavors in these areas, whether through legal ownership or purchase, have contributed to the rapid growth of Dimapur, Chumukedima, and Kohima districts.
Endorsing the statement issued by the Angami Public Organization (APO), commending their unwavering commitment to peaceful coexistence, the SAPO urged all communities to respect the rightful owners of the land and eschew violence, opting instead for mutual respect, understanding, and harmony.
It also pointed out that if Maova Kuki village feels insecure due to various developmental works carried out by the rightful landowners, they should freely relocate to any other secure place and live peacefully, rather than imposing their own rules of law in the land.

“The Kukis of Maova village not only threatened and physically assaulted the President of Chakhroma Public Organization (CPO), but also resorted to stone-pelting towards the district administration and citizens of Chakhroma, amounting to direct confrontation with government agencies and public organizations, which is unacceptable and condemned at the highest level,” SAPO president, Er Tepul Hopovi and general secretary, Tepungosa Sale stated in a press release.
The SAPO assured of utmost cooperation and assistance at any juncture to quell such belligerent tendencies within Angami jurisdiction, thereby ensuring the perpetuation of peace and harmony.
