DC Chumoukedima issues notice on mandatory registration of coaching centres

In pursuant of the Government of Nagaland notification and the ‘Guidelines for Registration and Regulation of Coaching Centres in the state of Nagaland, 2025”, Deputy Commissioner Chumoukedima, Polan John has mandated registration of all coaching centres operating within Chumoukedima district.

He said all coaching centres functioning in the district must apply for registration on or before March 31, 2026, stating that the move aims to ensure minimum standards, safeguard students’ interests, and regulate the functioning of private coaching institutes.

The order stated that any establishment providing tuition, instruction, or academic guidance to more than 20 students for study programmes or competitive examinations must register. Coaching centres operating multiple branches would be treated as separate centres for registration purposes. However, institutions dedicated solely to counselling, sports, dance, theatre, and other creative activities are exempted.

Applicants are required to submit a filled registration form, verification report from the Area Administrative Officer, treasury challan (Rs 5000 for registration and Rs 2000 for renewal), undertaking by the proprietor, and a photograph displaying key details such as tutor qualifications, timetable, fee structure, and emergency helpline information.

Additional requirements include character certificates of tutors issued by the Police Station, a copy of the prospectus, fire safety certificate, building safety certificate, and formation of a grievance redressal committee.

The order further specified that no student below 16 years of age would be enrolled unless they have completed their secondary school examination.

Applications must be submitted to the Development Branch of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Chumoukedima.

Deputy Commissioner, Polan John has called upon all concerned coaching centres to adhere to the directive within the stipulated timeline to avoid any administrative action.
