My Bharat Longleng in collaboration with District Sports Office Longleng celebrated International Women’s Day aligned with Asmita, Khelo India (Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring women through Sports) on March 8 at public ground Longleng.
President, Phomla Hoichem, A Ainyu Phom, who attended the program as special invitee encouraged the participants to actively participate at the local level and showcase their talents at the state and national level. On behalf of Phomla Hoichem, the apex Women Organization of Phom community, she urged the administration and the District Sports Officer to organize the next International Women’s Day with more extravagant event. The speaker congratulated all participants on their success and urged women to aim higher.
In his keynote address, District Youth Officer Longleng, Hitesh Kumar expressed his happiness for celebrating the women’s day with the ASMITA League. Briefing on ASMITA league, he said the initiative is not just a sports competition; it is a movement to empower women and encourage young girls to come forward and showcase their talent. Sports have the power to transform lives, it build confidence, discipline, leadership, and a strong spirit of teamwork. Through platforms like the ASMITA League, thousands of young girls across the country are getting the opportunity to dream big and achieve excellence in sports, he noted.
He also informed that league athletes are taking part in different competition that plays an important role in identifying young talent at the grassroots level and giving them a platform to grow. It also sends a strong message to society that girls are equally capable and deserve equal opportunities in sports and every field of their life.
Congratulating all the participants, he said the real victory in sports is not just about winning medals but about participation, dedication, and the spirit of fair play. He concluded by appealing everyone to encourage and support our daughters to shine and bring glory to our nation.
District Sports Officer, Angoto Thokhwe gave away the prices to the winners during the events. The events includes running race in 100, 200 and 400 meters for under 13, 13-18 and above 18 categories girls, where girls from all the schools under DEO Longleng participated the event’s.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by C. Imlichuba Chingham Phom and the programme was chaired by National Youth Volunteer My Bharat Longleng (NYV), Henyah A and Lungchem Phom.
Niuland:

The District Administration, in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Niuland successfully organized a commemorative event on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8 at Sumi Baptist Akukuhou, Niuland.
The programme chaired by Merryka Sumi, Accounts Assistant, commenced with an introductory address by Holika Sumi, Women Pastor, SBAN. The keynote speaker, Kitoshi Z Swu, SDEO & DEO (Incharge), Niuland emphasized the pivotal role of women in societal development.
Alika, CA from One Stop Centre presented an overview of initiatives undertaken by the OSC. The programme witnessed participation from officials of DHEW & OSC and Women members of SBAN.
Tseminyu:

The District Administration & Sankalp, District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Tseminyu in partnership with Sakhi One Stop Centre (OSC), Rengma Mothers Association & Women Club celebrated International Women’s Day on March 7 at Tseminyu with the theme “Rights, Justice, Action, For all Women and Girls”.
The program was chaired by Kenyuhyule Thong (Centre Administrator) Sakhi One Stop Centre Tseminyu, while (Legal Case Worker, OSC) Adv. Jochusinle Kessen spoke on the theme- “Rights, Justice, Action For all women and Girls”. Earlier, the invocation was proposed by Associate Pastor (TTBC), Yhungwale Tep and a special song by Kenyuni Tep.
Kiphire:

The District Administration Kiphire in convergence with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and Sakhi-One Stop Centre observed the International Women’s Day on March 7 at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire.
Aligned with Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 campaign and the District/Block Aspirational Program, the event centred on the theme “Rights, Justice and Action, for all Women and Girls”.
The program drew a diverse crowd, including representatives from the Eastern Sumi Totimi Hoho, Tikhir Women Organization and Akehta Sangtamlarü Thsingmüjang. Students from Government Higher Secondary School, Agape Higher Secondary School, Loyola Higher Secondary School Kiphire, along with Kiphire Town Anganwadi Workers, ASHAs, Health and Veterinary staff attended in large numbers.

The special highlight was the seven-member brainstorming panel discussion on the theme, featuring one representative each from women’s tribal organisations, the District Programme Officer (DPO), Head DB Kiphire, Proprietor of Smoky Pots Kiphire, and Miss Kiphire 2025.
In line with the Kiphire Aspirational Program and ongoing Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 campaign, the program provides health services including TB screening, NCD screening and an awareness talk on maternal and child health with emphasis on Ante Natal Care (ANC), institutional delivery, and child immunization by the Medical Department. The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department offered free vaccinations for pet dogs and cats, while the Social Welfare Department distributed nutritional supplements for children.
Empowering local women entrepreneurs, the event featured Aakanksha Stall exhibition showcasing hand-woven textiles by local artisans and stall setup by the Department of Fishery, Brain Health Clinic Staff’ and KVK Kiphire also displayed their products under the Aakanksha banner.
The program also includes Fun entertainment such as biscuit-eating, coin-finding, balloon-bursting competitions, and a flower competition, fostering community spirit.
