The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) has alleged a series of incidents involving threats and violence against Naga areas and civilians, and strongly condemned the recent extension of the ban on the group by the Government of India.
In a statement issued by its MIP, the NSCN/GPRN claimed that an alleged drone attack took place on April 6, 2026, at Khammoi village in the Naga Self-Administered Zone in Myanmar, accusing Indian armed forces of targeting Naga civilians along the “imposed borders”.
It described the reported incident as part of what it termed a “systematic campaign” to terrorize Nagas and undermine their basic human values, and expressed concern over the safety of civilians in border areas.
“These attacks on unarmed civilians not only threatens the core principles of the United Nations, but also devastated Naga communities, deepening an already dire humanitarian crisis of Nagas in Myanmar,” it stated.
The group also criticized the decision of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal to extend the ban on NSCN/GPRN for another five years under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
“India have consistently weaponized the AFSPA, UAPA and other draconian laws to criminalize the Naga resistance movement and terrorized the Naga public whereby committing serious human rights violation,” it stated adding, “Ironically this same country is a signatory at the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and recently re-elected to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for 2026-2028 term.”

The NSCN/GPRN (YA) further appealed to the international community to act in line with UN principles and act with urgency to ensure India’s crimes are investigated and held to account. It also called on all the Member States to the UNHRC to review India’s Human Rights record and ensure that the long term integrity and credibility of the UNHRC itself are not sacrificed to political influence and expediency of a rogue member like India.
Reiterating its stance on defending “our land and the protection of our people”, the group said, “We will never bow down to our oppressors and will never be intimidated by their military might.”
It also hoped that one day the United Nations would live up to its founding principles and be a true beacon of freedom for oppressed people all around the world.
