A team comprising of Agriculture, Fishery and Aquatic Resources and Veterinary and Animal Husbandry department officials headed by Y Kikheto Sema, IAS, Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Nagaland undertook a week-long study tour to Vietnam from 23 to 28 November.

The primary objective of the tour was to learn the successful agriculture and allied practices including Agro-Eco tourism in sub-urban and rural areas in Vietnam.

The team visited the urban organic farm in Hanoi and interacted with the farmers regarding the marketing of the products. The team further had a meeting with the Dean and Officials of Da Nang University where they were apprised of the research and development activities.

The team experienced first-hand the popular Agro-Eco tourism of Tra Que vegetable village and tea estate in Hoi An and observed various management aspects of the enterprises.

Following the tour, the team observed that the size of the farm does not determine the economy of a farm but They further observed that intensive agriculture with proper scientific management of inputs along with diverse crops particularly high-value marketable crops, vegetables and medicinal plants including herbs and an incorporation of aspects of tourism would promote a sustainable enterprise ultimately leading to settled farming.
