Dimapur police issues notice on public gatherings

The Office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur has reiterated that prior written permission is mandatory for any public gathering, rally, or democratic protest within its jurisdiction.

In a notice issued on June 4, the police stated that while citizens have the democratic right to assemble peacefully and express their views, public safety, law and order, and the smooth flow of traffic and commerce must also be ensured.

The notice warned that any gathering held without prior permission would be treated as an unlawful assembly. It also reminded the public that all forms of public gatherings at Dimapur Clock Tower are strictly prohibited as per Government orders.
