Trees are closely connected to our land and way of life: Y Vikheho Swu

Stating that trees are closely connected to our land and our way of life, Y Vikheho Swu, President of NPF Central Farmers Wing and former minister informed that World Environment Day is a reminder of the collective responsibility to preserve and nurture the world.

Swu was speaking during a short programme organised by the NPF Central Office and conducted by the NPF Pughoboto Division in collaboration with the Pughoboto Administration and the Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change at Pughoboto ADC Office.

Commending the visionary leadership and steadfast commitment of Chief Minister and NPF President, Neiphiu Rio towards environmental conservation, Swu stated that the statewide mass tree plantation initiative launched under his guidance to commemorate World Environment Day would bring lasting benefits to the environment, the land, and future generations.

“Among the many ways we can contribute to environmental conservation, planting trees remains one of the most effective and meaningful actions,” Swu informed and emphasised that planting trees has become a necessity and urged the gathering to take responsibility in ensuring that the trees planted survive and grow.

After the programme, a mass tree plantation drive was carried out at the Pughoboto ADC office and the adjoining offices by the gathering.

Viyikhu Q Wotsa, President NPF Pughoboto Divison chaired the programme, while the invocation was led by Aghali Sheqi, Women Pastor, PTBC. Vinoto K Rochill, Deputy Range Officer, Pughoboto also delivered a short speech during the programme.
