Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü retains 15th Intl Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship title

Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü emerged as the champion of the 15th International Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship held today at Amphitheatre, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. The championship was organised by the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA).

Pienyü defeated Venuzo Dawhuo and defended his Championship title.

He was awarded Rs 1,20,000 as the winner of the Wrestling Championship.

Venuzo Dawhou from Thenyizu village, as the 1st runner up, received a cash prize of Rs 80,000. Rukukhoto Khesoh from Yoruba village came in as the second runner-up (third position), receiving a cash prize of Rs 40,000 and Vemele Thingo the third runner-up (fourth position) with a cash prize of Rs 20,000.

In the Amateur/Tourist Category, tourists from Nepal, Manipur, Manchester UK and Mokockchung participated in the wrestling competition. The champion Rakhoveio Lumai from Phuba was awarded Rs 30,000. Sentilong Imchen from Mokokchung came in second and received Rs 20,000 as cash prize. Lao Jhekho from Saranamai received the third prize of Rs 10,000 while Limasunep Imchen from Mangmetong came in fourth and received Rs 5,000.

Altogether, 24 wrestlers participated from the Wrestling Associations of Zeliang, Chakhesang and Angami tribe with eight wrestlers representing each Wrestling unit.
