The Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) has announced that it would organise a peaceful rally on July 17 at 10 a.m. at Jharnapani (New Medziphema) to protest what it described as the State Government’s failure to acknowledge the rights of traditional landowners and its lackadaisical approach in addressing the ongoing Maova village issue.
In a statement, the organisation said the rally aims to express its strong displeasure over the government’s inaction while reaffirming that the Chakhroma Public Organisation, as the traditional landowners, remains firm and uncompromising in protecting its ancestral land rights.

According to the CPO, the programme would begin with a brief gathering at the Peren–Nagaland University Medziphema Campus road junction, after which participants would proceed to the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Medziphema, where a memorandum wouldl be submitted to the government.
The organisation appealed to all tribal bodies and right-thinking citizens to participate in the peaceful rally and extend support in safeguarding what it described as the ancestral rights of the Nagas, which it said are under threat at this critical juncture.
