The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has strongly condemned the July 13 bomb blast near the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School at Chümoukedima, which claimed the life of an Assam Rifles personnel and left several others injured.
In a statement, the Federation conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased and prayed for the speedy and complete recovery of those injured in the attack.
The NSF described the incident as an attempt to reintroduce violence and bloodshed into the prevailing atmosphere of peace and stability that has been painstakingly nurtured in the Naga homeland over the years. It said the attack came at a time when the Naga people continue to aspire for a future founded on peace, dialogue, mutual respect and an honourable political settlement.
The Federation cautioned against vested interests and outside elements seeking to exploit the Naga homeland as a theatre for violence, instability and the pursuit of agendas that have no place in Naga society. It observed that the Naga people have already endured decades of conflict and paid an immeasurable price in terms of lives lost, suffering and missed opportunities.

Calling for accountability, the NSF urged the competent authorities to conduct a swift, impartial and comprehensive investigation to identify the perpetrators, their collaborators and those behind the attack, and ensure that they are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
The Federation also appealed to all Nagas, irrespective of tribe, region or political affiliation, to remain vigilant, united and committed to safeguarding peace and communal harmony. It maintained that the strength of the Naga people has always rested on resilience, unity and the belief that lasting peace can only be achieved through understanding, justice and dialogue, and not through violence.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace, the NSF said it stands firmly with the Naga people and all peace-loving citizens in rejecting violence in all its forms while working to preserve the dignity, security and future of the land.
