The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has served a three-day ultimatum to the Department of Higher Education, demanding immediate disbursement of the pending Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS-ST) 2025-26 to all eligible beneficiaries.

In an ultimatum addressed to the Ex-Officio Director of the Department of Higher Education, the Union expressed strong displeasure over the continued delay in releasing the scholarship, stating that it has caused immense hardship to thousands of students across the state.

ANCSU alleged that officials of the Higher Education Department had assured the union and the student community that the scholarship would be disbursed from July 18, 2026, but the promise was not fulfilled.

The Union accused the Department of misleading students through repeated assurances that failed to materialise, stating that such conduct has eroded students’ confidence in the department and reflected a lack of accountability towards their welfare.

Demanding immediate action, the ANCSU served an ultimatum of three days to the department to initiate the disbursement of the pending PMS-ST to all eligible students beneficiaries within three days.

The Union warned that failure to comply within the stipulated period would leave it with no option but to launch democratic mass agitation to safeguard the legitimate rights and welfare of the student community. It maintained that the Department of Higher Education would be solely responsible for any consequences arising from its continued inaction.

ANCSU also called upon the Higher Education Minister to intervene urgently, discharge the department’s responsibilities and prevent students from being compelled to resort to democratic protests.

Meanwhile, the Union appealed to students across the state to remain calm and refrain from taking part in any agitation, stating that it would initiate protest only if the department fails to begin the scholarship disbursement within the three-day deadline.
