A 10-day free cricket coaching clinic for Under-19 boys and girls is underway at the All Weather Cricket Practice Pitch, Public Ground, Wokha. The programme, which began on July 20, is being organised by the Wokha District Cricket Association (WDCA) in collaboration with the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) to promote grassroots cricket and develop young talent in the district.

The coaching sessions are being conducted by Nihal Ahmad, a BCCI A-Level certified coach from the Nagaland Cricket Association, and Sulanthung E. Kithan, a trained Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coach. Assisting them are senior Wokha cricketers Nzanthung Mozhui, who has represented Nagaland in the Ranji Trophy, and Romokhon, who is also supporting the training sessions.

Despite intermittent rainfall, the coaching has continued with enthusiastic participation from children, who are receiving training in the fundamentals of batting, bowling, fielding, fitness and other aspects of the game.

The WDCA is also providing free lunch to all participants during the coaching programme. In addition, the Nagaland Cricket Association has extended support by deputing qualified coaches and providing cricket kits for the camp.

WDCA President Chenithung T Lotha thanked the Nagaland Cricket Association for its continued support in strengthening cricket at the grassroots level. He also encouraged parents and guardians to enrol their children in the coaching programme, informing that registration will continue at 8:00 am at the Public Ground. The coaching clinic is expected to continue over the coming days.
