Whimsy Fresh Flowers has expanded its presence in Nagaland with the opening of its second branch at Arkong Ward, Mokokchung. The new outlet is located on the second floor above the JOCKEY Showroom and is jointly owned by entrepreneurs Naro and Ajmal.
The business first opened its Dimapur outlet in 2025. Following its successful operation there, the owners decided to extend the venture to Mokokchung.
Speaking about the store, Naro said the store will mainly focus on fresh flowers while also stocking a range of artificial flowers.
“Our main focus is on fresh flowers. We do keep artificial flowers, but we want to make fresh flowers more easily available in Mokokchung,” she said.
Fresh flowers are sourced from Bengaluru, while artificial flowers are procured from Mumbai and Delhi. The flowers are transported by air from Bengaluru to Guwahati before being brought by road to Mokokchung in carefully packed consignments to prevent damage during transit.
Naro, who has worked as a florist in Shillong for around 10 years, said her experience in the field encouraged her to venture into the business. She later established the Dimapur branch, which she described as operating successfully.
Explaining the decision to focus on fresh flowers, she said the aim is to promote a more environmentally friendly choice for floral arrangements.
“Flower culture is gradually growing here. We want to encourage the use of fresh flowers because they are environmentally friendly. Around the world, fresh flowers are commonly used for different occasions, even at cemeteries, instead of artificial ones. We believe people here will gradually adapt to it as well,” she said.

The store offers floral arrangements for weddings, birthdays, church programmes, functions, anniversaries, funerals and other occasions. Both wholesale and retail services are available.
To maintain the freshness of imported flowers, the outlet is equipped with cold storage facilities. Naro said most fresh flowers can be preserved for up to a month under proper cold storage conditions, whereas without refrigeration many varieties last only two to three days.
She said the business also plans to ensure that fresh flowers remain available throughout the year.
On the possibility of purchasing flowers from local growers, Naro said the business is open to sourcing locally in the future.
“If local growers are able to provide good quality flowers, we would definitely like to purchase from them in the future,” she said.
She also encouraged local entrepreneurs and flower growers to consider the sector, saying floriculture has long-term economic potential.
“There is scope in this business. It can become economically sustainable, and I hope it will continue to grow in our district,” she added.
Whimsy Fresh Flowers also has home delivery services. Customers will be able to check flower availability and prices through the store’s Instagram page, where regular updates will be posted.
The Mokokchung branch will be managed by Ajmal’s brother, who has several years of experience in the florist trade.
