The DC & Chairman DDMA, Noklak chaired the emergency meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority, Noklak on July 22 at DC’s office chamber, Noklak. The DC welcomed all the members present and briefed on the disaster situation in the District. He requested the line department to update on the situation and stressed on the importance of coordination and public safety.

After deliberation on the status of the district, the following agendas were discussed and resolved during the meeting:

Discussing on Noklak – Chandang Saddle Road, the EE PWD(R&B) and Contractors/Site incharge highlighted the damage of multiple culverts, retaining wall and landslide across the stretch. The house discussed the importance of immediate restoration as the road is the only lifeline connecting district Headquarter and decided to request the concerned authority for immediate necessary action.

While on Noklak – Pangsha road, EAC Sadar apprised the house for restoration of Culvert at Shimong River to avoid further damage to road by flowing river. EE PWD (R&B), Noklak was entrusted to look into the matter. Action to be taken by EE PWD.

In regards to Medical Storage, the CMO, Dist. Hospital, Noklak reported on shortage of essential stock and requested a vehicle for transportation of essential drugs from Kohima, the house decided to requisition Mini trucks from Assistant Commandant of VG, Noklak. Action to be taken by CMO, DH, Noklak.

For supply of essential commodities, the present availability of commodities in the market was reported by F&CS Noklak. The Deputy Commissioner requested the department to further keep track on the availability of stock especially during monsoon. Action to be taken by F&CS, Noklak.

Regarding relief materials, the house discussed the importance of relief materials in stock for emergencies and decided to request NSDMA to provide Relief materials. Action to be taken by DDMA Noklak.

On Lein River Bridge, EE PWD (R&B) Noklak informed the house that the Bridge was severely damaged by flash flood, and needs urgent restoration. It is the only road connecting villages from the Panso area to the district headquarter. The house decided to carry out immediate restoration. Action to be taken by EE PWD & DDMA Noklak.
