Jubilee Memorial College (JMC), in collaboration with the District Integrated Strategy for HIV/AIDS (DISHA) and the college Red Ribbon Club, celebrated International Youth Day at the college campus on the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations” on August 12. The event commenced with a formal programme chaired by Nungshiwapang, a Semester I student, followed by an official welcome address from the college Principal, Dr Imtiwati Jamir. The gathering was also treated to a special song performed by Liju Achumi, a Semester V student, alongside presentations delivered by the winners of the Elocution Competition.

The special invitee for the occasion, Kewimesin Nriame, EAC Mokokchung, delivered an inspiring speech encouraging the youth to make a positive impact on society. She emphasized the importance of maintaining good and ambitious circle of friends to bring out the best in everyone, while also urging students to use social media wisely.

Furthermore, she motivated the students to chase their personal dreams rather than conforming to societal expectations. Cautioning them to be prepared for life’s inevitable failures, she advised the youth never to give up and to excel through hard work and dedication.

She also highlighted the value of promoting local arts and crafts to help young people stay connected to their roots. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Chubaienla Imchen, Nodal Officer of the JMC Red Ribbon Club, followed by the ceremonial flag-off of the “Youth on Wheels” initiative by the special invitee.
