The Dimapur District Congress Committee (DCC) and party workers held a peaceful protest outside Congress Bhavan, Dimapur on Friday, condemning the shameful and discriminatory incident reported from Haldwani, where a so-called “purification” ritual was carried out at the venue of a Congress rally following the presence of Congress President, Mallikarjun Kharge.
The protest strongly denounced the mindset behind such an act, which strikes at the principles of equality, dignity and fraternity guaranteed by the Constitution of India. The AICC has described the incident as an affront to human dignity and constitutional values.
Addressing the gathering, the DCC Dimapur reiterated that untouchability, caste discrimination and hatred have no place in a democratic and constitutional India. The protesters carried messages including “No to Untouchability, Yes to Equality,” “Human Dignity Is Not Negotiable,” and “One Constitution, One Equality, One India.”

The DCC Dimapur expressed solidarity with Congress President, Mallikarjun Kharge and reaffirmed its commitment to defending the dignity and equality of every Indian citizen.
“No to discrimination. No to untouchability. Yes to equality, dignity and constitutional democracy,” the DCC reiteirated.
