The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), in compliance with the directive of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), today organised a protest march at Kohima, strongly condemning the FIR registered against Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Addressing the gathering, MP (Lok Sabha) and President, NPCC, S Supongmeren Jamir strongly protested the FIR filed against Rahul Gandhi following complaints by BJP workers. He termed the action politically motivated and an attempt to intimidate and silence the voice of the Opposition.

Jamir asserted that the Congress Party would not be intimidated by such actions and would continue to stand firmly for democracy, justice and the constitutional right to question those in power. He expressed the Party’s full solidarity with Rahul Gandhi and President AICC, Mallikarjun Kharge and reiterated that attempts to suppress democratic dissent through legal and political pressure would be opposed democratically.

The protest also demanded appropriate legal action against those responsible for the Haldwani, Uttarakhand incident, as highlighted in the AICC directive.

As part of the statewide programme, protest marches were also organised by District Congress Committees across Nagaland, including Dimapur, Tuensang and Kiphire, with party leaders and workers joining in solidarity with Rahul Gandhi.

The NPCC reiterated that the Indian National Congress would continue to defend democratic values, constitutional rights and the freedom of the Opposition to raise the voice of the people without fear or intimidation.
