The legacy of legendary Indian footballer and Olympian Dr Talimeren Ao, popularly known as Dr T Ao, was celebrated through a new tribute song formally released in Mokokchung on September 25.
Written by Supong Jamir and composed jointly by Jonathan Lemtur and Apang Aier, the song has been rendered by Apang Aier, Tajung and Susan. The audio was mixed by Toshi Changkiri.
Dr T Ao remains one of the celebrated figures in the history of Indian football and was among the pioneers who represented the country on the international stage. His contribution to Indian football has received renewed recognition in recent years, including acknowledgement by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The creators said the tribute song was conceived from a desire to further celebrate and preserve the football legend’s legacy for future generations. Beyond remembering a sporting icon, the song seeks to convey a message of inspiration and aspiration to young people, encouraging them to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
The song was formally released by Amongba, grandnephew of Dr T Ao, who expressed appreciation and gratitude to the songwriter and composers for creating the tribute.

Amongba observed that music is universal and capable of reaching people across boundaries, speaking to individuals and motivating them in different ways. He expressed hope that the song would find its way to the lips of everyone who hears it and inspire them through the enduring legacy of Dr T Ao.
The release programme was chaired by Rev Ngangnen, Pastor, Alempang Baptist Church, who also offered the dedicatory prayer for the song.
The tribute seeks to keep alive the memory of Dr T Ao not only as a footballer who represented India on the international stage, but also as a symbol of determination, humility, discipline and the pursuit of excellence.
Through music, the creators hope to introduce his story and legacy to a new generation and encourage young people to carry forward the same spirit in their chosen paths.
The song has now been released for the public, with its creators hoping that its message of remembrance, inspiration and excellence will resonate with listeners far and wide.
