As part of the ongoing drive against spurious IMFL/alcohol and intensified routine checking by Kohima Police, on September 28 at around 2:35 p.m., a transport carrier was intercepted during routine checking within the jurisdiction of Zubza Police Station.

Upon checking the vehicle and verifying its contents, the police team found it to be loaded with 7,740 bottles of IMFL, each of 750 ml capacity, with an estimated value of approximately ₹50 lakh. The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody, and a detailed investigation is underway to trace the source of the consignment and ascertain the identities of the supplier, owner and intended buyer.

During the checking, it was also found that a “BSF Duty” marking had been placed on the windshield of the vehicle, apparently to create a misleading impression and evade suspicion during police checking. The use of such a marking is being examined as part of the investigation to establish the modus operandi adopted for transporting the illegal consignment, police said.
