An awareness programme on the community-led national campaign against gender–based discrimination was organised by the District Urban Development Agency, Wokha under DAY-NULM at Urban Development Office, PWD Colony, Wokha on 9 December.

A keynote address was given by Kiniholi Kinimi, Assistant Urban Development Officer.

Thereafter, Adv Shanchobeni P Lotha, Panel Lawyer WDLSA, delivered a talk on the topic ‘Gender-Based Discrimination and Violence Issues’.

With the motive to end and fight gender-based discrimination against womenfolk, she emphasised the POSH ACT, Sexual Harassment of women at the workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) and the issues prevailing in the district. She encouraged women to seek assistance and free counseling from Wokha District Legal Services Authority and Sakhi-One Stop Centre Wokha.

A total number of 30 SHG members, Wokha Town Council members, and DUDA officials participated in the programme.

The programme was coordinated by Myingthunglo Ezung and a vote of thanks was delivered by Echungbeni R Odyuo.
