LJP alleges NDPP of booth capture, vandalising at Ghathashi Town

Ghathashi Town: 40 supporters of LJP have complained to the Returning Officer of the constituency

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has alleged booth capture of Polling Station no. 21 at Ghathashi under 13 Pughoboto Assembly Constituency in Zunheboto district in the election held yesterday in Nagaland.

40 supporters of LJP candidate Dr. Sukhato A. Sema have complained to the Returning Officer of the constituency accusing the supporters of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party of snatching their voters’ slips and preventing them from casting their votes.

The party also accused the NDPP supporters of vandalising the property of its supporter after the polling was over.

In a statement signed by the party chairman of 13 Pughoboto A/C, Yeghoje, it was stated that the NDPP youths attacked the private residence of Nagho Sheqhi, GB, and his son Levi Sema in Ghathashi Town around 9:30 pm.

Condemning the act, the LJP further stated that the youths “destroyed the properties and shattered almost all the window glass and made a huge mess which is totally untoward and unacceptable.”

GB Sheqhi said that the two parties had conducted a meeting before the polling where LJP demanded for ‘one man one vote’ however not only did the NDPP deny them their right to vote on 27 February, but they also even attacked his house.

Nagaland Tribune was unable to contact NDPP 13 Pughoboto A/C till the time of filing this report.

LJP candidate Dr. Sukhato A. Sema had contested Y. Vikheho Swu of NDPP for the constituency. The votes will be counted on 2 March 2023.
