A meeting on monsoon preparedness of the Kohima District Disaster Management Authority was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Shanavas C, IAS at DPDB meeting hall, Kohima on Thursday.
DIPR informed that during the meeting, the DC briefed on the possible disaster which may occur any time and instructed the officers of different departments to be available to handle any kind of vulnerable disaster such as landslides and forest fire incidents. He apprised the officers to identify and survey the likely possible locations for better preparedness.
Shanavas also instructed the department of PHE, CMO, PWD, SDRF, KMC, Water Resources, Agri & Allied etc. and other line departments to equip themselves with the required tools and machineries to address any unforeseen incidents.
DDMO Kohima, Thejangulie Zao highlighted on the Indian Disaster Resources Network portal (IDRN) and requested the department to access the portal by providing the necessary details of their department’s equipment for managing the portal better.
The house was also appraised about the disadvantages of the overloaded trucks plying on the national highway which add to the wear and tear of the roads.
The DC advised the SDRF and DEF to train their personnel by analyzing the possible situations for better coordination. He also advised everyone to clean their drainages so that this monsoon rainfall would not create more problems.
