The 35th Mokokchung District Badminton Open Championship 2023 organized by the Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) concluded on 1 July 2023 at the Indoor Badminton Stadium in Mokokchung. The event was graced by Subhash Arambam, Assistant Director of Printing and Stationery, Nagaland as the Special Guest.
In his speech, Subhash emphasized the significance of sports in today’s generation and highlighted that it can be pursued as a career in any discipline. He stated that sports are not only meant for hobbies or physical fitness but are also crucial for professional development and overall well-being. Subhash further emphasized that sports offer various opportunities, including government services, professional growth, training, and recognition on a global scale. He regarded it as a valuable reward for one’s hard work and dedication.

Subhash urged parents and guardians to support and nurture their children’s interests, particularly if they show an inclination towards sports. He stressed the importance of determination in achieving milestones and encouraged the players to live meaningful lives. Furthermore, he motivated the players to play the game with passion, interest, and focus.
The Open Championship 2023 was played in 27 categories with 76 participants, including 50 boys and 26 girls.
The last day of the tournament witnessed players competing with each other to clinch trophies as the winner of each category will earn the opportunity to represent the district in the upcoming All Nagaland Badminton Tournament scheduled to be held in Kohima from 10 July.

Earlier the program was chaired by Watitemjen, Moalemba, Treasurer, MDBA pronounced the invocation, Sunup Walling and Akokla Langu performed a duet while vote of thanks was presented by the Convenor, Organising Committee.
