The 80th publication of PenThrill titled, ‘Seweda’ written by Khrieü Sekhose (1931-2014) was formally released in a private family gathering on October 1 at the De Oriental, Kohima with a dedicatory prayer by Rev.Viwelie Khezie, Khedi Baptist Church.

During the event, the eldest amongst Khrieü Sekhose’s children, Kezhalenuo Kesiezie spoke on behalf of the family while recalling how their mother was quite ahead of her times and took particular interest in our traditional fabrics.

Seweda was first published in 1982 by Ura Academy and has been out of circulation for several years. The new revised hardcover edition of Seweda is the third book in Tenyidie published by PenThrill.

The book centres around the art of weaving, epitomising the author’s great passion and concern for the Naga traditional fabrics.

In her publisher’s note, Vishü Rita Krocha said it was an honour for PenThrill to publish the work of Khrieü Sekhose, who can be considered a ‘Real Tenyimia Woman’ whose extraordinary work speaks for itself. “Even though the author is no more, she will be remembered for the rich legacy she has left behind,” said Krocha exuding hope that every reader would gain more wisdom and insights into the art of weaving our traditional attires.

The book event was chaired by Avinuo Kire, granddaughter of the author. Kire, who is an accomplished author herself, also recollected how as children, their grandmother would encourage them to take pride in their traditional attires. “A most precious legacy Atsa left us is instilling a strong sense of identity- to be ‘culture proud’,” remarked Kire.
