Phek: Uniformed and inebriated cops caught on camera arguing with public

Two personnel of Phek Police unit have been put under suspension for “acting in a manner unbecoming of a Govt. servant” after a video with them in it surfaced on social media on 22nd November 2023.

In the shocking video, that has since gone viral, the two uniformed and inebriated cops can be seen arguing with some people in Kohima. The person taking the video can be heard saying that the vehicle in which the policemen were travelling was blocking traffic.

The order from the Superintendent of Police, Phek mentioned that the personnel had been assigned for traffic duty in Kohima for the forthcoming Hornbill Festival. The order bars the policemen under suspension from leaving Phek Headquarter without obtaining prior permission from the SP.

During the period of suspension, the above noted personnel will be entitled to draw subsistence allowance equal to the leave of half pay. In addition, they shall also draw dearness allowances as admissible from time to time on the basic pay which they received on the date of this suspension subject to fulfilment of the other condition laid down for drawal of such allowances, the order also stated.
