The Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) has strongly condemned the illegal intrusion that occurred on November 28, 2023 where four unidentified individuals forcefully raided the residence of a respected member of the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) in Mokokchung town.

In a press release issued on December 3, 2023, the OKM deemed such acts of trespassing and violence as unacceptable, emphasizing the necessity of bringing the perpetrators to justice in accordance with the law.

The organization also voiced concerns about the escalating incidents of theft within the town, creating a pervasive sense of fear and insecurity among the citizens. It urged all law enforcement agencies, civil societies, and concerned citizens to remain vigilant and collaborate in addressing these security challenges.

To address the rising concerns, the OKM has called upon relevant authorities to implement effective security measures promptly. Specifically, the organization recommended the installation of street lighting and high-tech CCTV cameras at strategic locations throughout the town. These measures are seen as crucial not only for deterring criminal activities but also for facilitating the identification and apprehension of individuals involved in illegal acts.

“We emphasize the urgency of these security enhancements and hope that swift action will be taken to create a safer environment for the residents of Mokokchung town,” stated the OKM. By working together, the community and authorities can contribute to the prevention and resolution of such incidents, fostering a secure and harmonious living environment for all citizens, added the OKM.
