In an endeavor to uncover and document the rich cultural and natural heritage of Mopungchuket Village, the Mopungchuket Community Tourism Society (MCTS) has extended a warm invitation to scholars and experts for formal research on four intriguing subjects: Ongjinaro Plant (Sarcandra glabra), unexplored cave, remnants of Ahom swords and wild edible mushrooms.

According to a press release issued by the Mopungchuket Community Tourism Society the Ongjinaro plant, endemic to the village, holds significance as a popular ornamental plant, particularly during the Christmas season. However, its potential aromatic and medicinal values remain unexplored. MCTS has welcomed interested individuals to delve into the diverse applications of this unique plant.

Unexplored Cave:

Nestled in the village vicinity is an unnamed and unexplored natural cave, awaiting the expertise of speleologists, geologists, and seasoned cavers. The MCTS has encouraged exploration and documentation of this hidden marvel, adding to the wealth of geological knowledge.

Remnants of Ahom Swords:

Steeped in history, remnants of swords believed to be left behind by the Ahom army during an abortive invasion in 1836 present an opportunity for archaeologists and experts to unravel the tales of the past. These artifacts are currently housed in the village museum, offering a window into a bygone era.

Wild Edible Mushrooms:

Mopungchuket boasts a repertoire of approximately 40 naturally grown, wild edible mushrooms, a culinary and cultural treasure during the monsoons. Interested foragers and researchers has been invited to explore the diverse species found both on the ground and on logs.

For more information on any of these subjects, interested parties can contact Mopungchuket Community Tourism at +91 88373 23230 or via email at aotemulung@gmail.com.
