A one day seminar program was organised by the Police Baptist Church Tuensang, Youth department on February 16. The event was held under the topic ‘Youth leadership along with outpost fellowship’.
The resource person for the seminar was Dr Senilo Magh, MD psychiatry, junior specialist, District Hospital Tuensang who spoke on the importance of mental health and its impact on leadership. Dr. Magh highlighted important factors that affects one’s mental health in the workplace. “The biggest issue is that most leaders are looking to increase performance and productivity but they fail to consider the mental health of their workforce,” said the Psychiatrist.
He mentioned that leadership training needs to give more emphasis to mental health as it is a very important aspect of leadership. “A great leader is not just one that motivates and encouraged but it is also that shows empathy and understand emotions. Leaders should focus on their mental health while dealing with people or society,” remarked Dr. Magh.

The Psychiatrist also guided the gathering on how leaders should manage time between personal work with responsibility as church leaders.
“Leaders should have ability to guide or direct others on course of positive action, influence the opinions, behaviour of others and serve as a role model for their peers and younger generation,” said Dr. Magh. He encouraged the leaders to lead the people with responsibility and resilience.
Following the session, an interaction and discussion was held among the youth and different activities were conducted to strengthen the mental health of youth leaders.
