Pfuchatsumia Students’ Union launches Platinum Jubilee celebrations Kohima

The launching programme of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Pfuchatsumia Students’ Union, Kohima Village under the theme “Golden Past, Envisioning a Brighter Future” was held today at P.Khel Council, Kohima Village.

Keneingu Rutsa, Convenor, Platinum Jubilee Committee, shared the various programs that will be held during the yearlong celebration of the Platinum Jubilee. The Convenor informed that a programme will be held every month to commemorate the jubilee. This will begin with the commencement of the Night School March, followed by a Leadership Camp in April. The Convenor said various other programmes including Career Guidance programmes, plantation drive on World Environment Day, Literary cum Cultural Day, Variety Show will be held during the Yearlong celebration and end with the Jubilee celebrations on October 12, 2024.

Speaking at the programme, Kelhousetuo Rutsa Chairman, P.Khel Council, said the theme is befitting for the pioneer who has led the Union despite all challenges and making it truly a ‘Golden Past’. Rutsa said the vision of the elders to bring knowledge to the younger generation has brought the Union thus far.

Moving forward, the Chairman hoped that the students community will take the lead in bringing about change in the society. Commending the Union for its pursuit in running the “Night School” despite the many challenges, Rutsa acknowledged that many students have been benefitting from this initiative of free tuition. Rutsa further expressed hope that the Union will continue to take this programme forward to uplift the students community.

Reminiscing on the past, Meguo-o Mechülho, Former President said earlier even though there were not many educated people, the Students’ Union was formed by a few individuals to guide and promote the welfare of the upcoming students community.  He expressed happiness at how far the Union has come. Mechülho hoped that the Union will take forward and strengthen the visions set forth in the Golden Jubilee theme song.

The jubilee inaugural programme was chaired by President, PSU, Ruokuovituo Mere. Pastor, Baptist Revival Church, Kohima Village, Keneilhoutuo Mere invoked God’s blessings and Pfuchazünuo presented a special number.
