The 1st Open Futsal Tournament, organized by the Khensa Students’ Union under the auspices of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA), commenced today at the Asameyaa Futsal Turf in Khensa, with N Chuba Phom, District Planning Officer of Mokokchung, serving as the Guest of Honour.
N Chuba Phom, in his address, stated that Mokokchung was once a powerhouse of football and asked where the town stands today, urging everyone to ponder upon it. He emphasized that Mokokchung can still reclaim its status as a football powerhouse and urged reflection on this matter. Phom highlighted two essential qualities for athletes: humility and discipline. He illustrated his point with the example of Mario Balotelli, the talented Italian footballer whose career has been marred by indiscipline, resulting in wasted talent.
Phom stressed that humility and discipline are crucial not only for athletes but also for success in various fields. He remarked that while not every athlete may achieve fame or success, these two characteristics are invaluable in everyday life. Phom concluded by wishing all the teams the very best.
