The Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) has expressed deep concern and strong opposition to the recent decision by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, to regularize 147 Contractual Assistant Professors. This move, according to the Conference, appears to be a blatant bypassing of established recruitment norms and a serious breach of transparency and meritocracy.
It viewed the decision as a clear violation of the rights of deserving and qualified candidates who have long been preparing and waiting to compete in a fair and open recruitment process. The PSC further stated that the regularization order undermines their aspirations and dilutes the credibility and quality of higher education in Nagaland.
“This arbitrary regularization, done without open competition or proper evaluation, not only demoralizes competent aspirants but also questions the integrity of the recruitment system. It reflects a condescending attitude by the authorities and a worrying disregard for fairness in public appointments,” stated the PSC.

It expressed its firm solidarity with the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) and the Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) and urged the Department of Higher Education to immediately reconsider and revoke the said notification to restore faith in the system and to uphold the principles of justice and equality.
It also called upon all concerned stakeholders-students, educators, academic institutions, and members of civil society to rise in collective voice against this unjust action and to demand a recruitment process that is open, competitive, and merit-based.
