A 33-member team from the Mokokchung District Taekwondo Association (MDTA), comprising 6 girls and 27 boys, has departed for Longleng to compete in the 35th Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship and the Under-14 “Catch Them Young” Taekwondo Tournament 2025.

The championship is being organised by the Nagaland Taekwondo Association in collaboration with the

Department of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS), Government of Nagaland and hosted by Longleng

District Taekwondo Association.

According to MDTA, the selection of players for the 35th edition was conducted on July 21 at Ladybird

Higher Secondary School, where officials and referees assessed the athletes based on sparring sessions and overall preparedness. The selected athletes were chosen for their skill, discipline, and competitive potential.

The MDTA contingent is accompanied by team managers, coaches, and association officials, all of whom expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and spirit.

Last year, at the 34th Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship held in Phek district, the Mokokchung team secured a total of 18 medals — 2 gold, 11 silver, and 5 bronze — marking a strong performance and reinforcing the district’s growing presence in the sport.
