The Basketball Association Mokokchung District (BAMD) is set to begin its grassroots-level coaching clinic from August 2, 2025, at the BAMD Basketball Court, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
The clinic aims to train selected young talents who were scouted during the recently held 1st Inter High
School and Higher Secondary School Annual Basketball Tournament 2025.
A total of 24 boys and 14 girls have been shortlisted by the Association’s scouting committee based on their performance, skill, and sportsmanship during the tournament. The coaching clinic has been specifically designed to further develop these selected players and prepare them for future competitive basketball.
Training sessions will be held on non-working Saturdays starting August 2, and will continue during the
Durga Puja holidays. This schedule has been planned to ensure consistent attendance without causing academic disruptions for the students. Official notifications regarding the selected players have already been sent to their respective schools, with a request for full cooperation and support.
According to BAMD, this coaching clinic is a foundational step towards building dedicated Junior Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Teams from the district. The teams will be groomed for participation in state-level competitions and tournaments outside the state, with the Association emphasizing the need for external exposure to aid in the players’ growth and development.
BAMD considers this initiative as a long-term investment in basketball at the grassroots level and has called upon schools and parents to support the effort. The Association will directly communicate further updates regarding training schedules, match preparations, and progress to the concerned schools and players.
