The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Boards (DPDB) of Chümoukedima, Kiphire and Meluri were held on August 11 at the respective district headquarters.
In Chümoukedima, the meeting was chaired by deputy commissioner Chümoukedima, Polan John. The meeting commenced with the review of last DPDB minutes followed by an address from DPDB chairman, MLA and advisor Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio.
The MLA reminded members to ensure their presence in the monthly meetings. He also encouraged them to give their best and give inputs or topics on any subject matter, as they are working for the welfare of the people.
Rio requested the DC to keep track of the DPDB members as this will be reflected on their APAR assessment report.
The House after thorough deliberation, agreed to recommend agendas including change of location of Millers Mission School from present location (Unity village) to Diezephe village, introduction of commerce stream at GHSS Singrijan, upgradation of Government Middle School Khriezephe to Government High School, and proposal for construction of District Employment Exchange office. The proposal for construction of Excise department office has been deferred to the next meeting.

Later, a PowerPoint Presentation was presented by the District Child Protection Officer Nikito Zhimomi who highlighted the key functions, the status identifying the families at risk and children in need of care and protection and creating specific databases to monitor trends and patterns of children in difficult circumstances. He also highlighted on the department’s activities and schemes.
Kiphire: The Kiphire DPDB monthly meeting was held under the chairmanship of DC Kiphire Temsuwati Longkumer, who is also the vice chairman of the DPDB.
DC Longkumer emphasized on the importance of the Independence Day for the upcoming celebration on August 15 and also informed the members that Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton will grace the ocassion as chief guest at Kiphire.
EAC (HQ), Takatemjen Pongen highlighted the “She-Box”, district IC details, and urged the departments to set up their “She-Box IC details” as only few departments had submitted so far.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiphire, Chinese Chakhesang also spoke on how one must check influx of drugs, child trafficking and child abuse in the district.
ADC Longdiba L Sangtam informed that there will be mass social work for the upcoming Independence Day on August 12 from 6 AM onwards in the district.
A PowerPoint presentation was presented by Sub-District Police Officer Kiphire Sentiwapang.
Earlier in the meeting, District Education Officer I Chuba Aier was introduced to the board members.
Meluri: In the Meluri DPDB meeting, MLA and advisor New and Renewable Energy and NSDMA Z Nyusietho Nyuthe welcomed all the members present in the meeting.
After reviewing the previous meeting minutes, the following agendas were discussed and recommended — creation of assistant commandant VG post at Phokhungri HQ, upgradation of SDAO (Agriculture) to DAO, upgradation of SDHO (Horticulture) to DHO, upgradation of SDO (PHED) to Executive Engineer (PHED) and creation of Sub- Divisional Fishery office.
PowerPoint presentation on departmental activities was presented by Sub-Divisional Educational Officer Meluri (SDEO) Kaitunchap.
MLA Nyuthe urged upon all departments under Meluri district to take care of their departmental properties.
