Walkathon rally to promote electoral participation held in Kohima

Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland along with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kohima organized a ‘Walkathon’ programme under the theme ‘A Step for Participative Elections’ on 9 November.

The walkathon started at 6:30am from Sokhriezie Park, PHQ Junction, Kohima and ended at Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Office Complex, Kohima.

CEO Nagaland, V Shashank, IAS also participated in the rally along with DC & DEO Kohima, Shanavas C, IAS. The walkathon also witnessed participation from officials and people from various walks of life.

Given the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, where the Draft rolls will be published throughout the State on 9 November. This is being done following the directives given by the Election Commission of India.

Various Chief Electoral Officers have organized such activities in their respective States/UTs, on this day.

The Walkathon was organized to create awareness among the citizens inviting participation in the electoral process by registering names in the electoral roll during the current revision of electoral rolls.

Further, an appeal has been made to people from different walks of life including celebrities, sports enthusiasts, officers, state/district Icons and others to participate in the Walkathon.
