In a night of glamour, talent, and purpose, 21-year-old Tsurenshe L was crowned Miss Kiphire 2025 at the grand finale held on September 27 at the Government Higher Secondary School Auditorium, Kiphire. Her victory came after a remarkable journey of perseverance and dedication, having participated in Miss Kiphire 2024, where she was adjudged First Runner-up and won the Miss Queen of Hearts subtitle.
In an exclusive interview with Nagaland Tribune, Tsurenshe expressed her vision to work for the people of Kiphire “regardless of tribes and ethnicity,” with perseverance and integrity while primarily advocating for mental health awareness.
Highlighting the lack of proper understanding and care in the district, she observed that this often leads people to “unfruitful decisions” in life.
“Many times, when we fail to address or give proper care to mental health, it leads to depression and loss of self-confidence,” she said, pointing to local reports of more than two cases of youth suicide in the district this year alone.
Expressing gratitude to the organisers and event partners for creating a platform “to showcase not just talent and beauty but confidence and purpose,” she said the contest made every participant feel valued and celebrated.
Sharing her message to fellow contestants, she added, “I’m proud and inspired to share this beautiful journey with all of you. No matter the outcome, the friendship, love and encouragement will be cherished for a lifetime and beyond.”
She also thanked her supporters, family, and well-wishers, saying, “This achievement isn’t just personal but belongs to everyone who has been a pillar of support, believing in me no matter the odds. Their support reminds me that dreams aren’t too big to achieve if we believe.”
A 2025 BA (English Honours) graduate from St. Joseph’s Autonomous College, Jakhama in Kohima, Tsurenshe is a civil service aspirant preparing for competitive exams, hoping to serve the community in the future.

Special guest, Col Vikee Lamoria of the 41 Assam Rifles, Kiphire, lauded the people of the district for their love and support toward the Assam Rifles. He highlighted the force’s efforts in empowering youth through defence recruitment training, sports equipment donations, and national integration tours. Recently, students from Zisaji Presidency College and Yangpi PM Shri Government High School toured Agra and Delhi, where they experienced train and metro travel, visited historical monuments, watched a movie in a multiplex, and even met the President of India.
Applauding the Miss Kiphire pageant, Col Lamoria called it a platform that builds courage and confidence. “All contestants are already winners for their bravery in participating. Winning a crown is important, but the confidence gained will help them in life,” he said.
