The United Sangtam Gazetted Officers’ Union (USGOU) held it’s Silver Jubilee at Hopongkyu Hall Kiphire from October 2 to 3 under the theme “Müngucheh La Nüang” meaning “Lead with vision”.
Speaking at the event special guest, Advisor IT & C, Economics and statistics , Evaluation, S Sethrongkyu Sangtam said, ”We as a political leader and officers no one is permanent in his/her seat it’s a onetime chance to lead and serve our people why wait another opportunity when we have one with us to serve and lead our people in all capacity.”
He noted that the jubilee was not just about celebrating 25 years but about honouring the legacy of dedication, integrity, and selfless service of the pioneers of the Sangtam community. “These 25 years of commitment should remind us to work hand in hand, uniting our hearts and minds to uplift our society,” he added.
Encouraging officers to be a source of light to their community, Sethrongkyu said their absence should be felt in a positive way through sincere and dedicated service. He credited his own election as an MLA not to personal merit but to God’s grace and the trust of the people. “Be an asset wherever you are assigned to serve the community, work with no expectations and praise but in humility and humbleness,” Sangtam added.

He also encouraged the members to come united in all responsibilities to uplift the community and society.
“Have good relationship between high and low officers of all levels as brothers and sisters, friends and family. Change won’t come by itself it have to start with us, no matter how small it may seems at the beginning,” he further said.
Guest of honour, Advisor Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guard and Civil Defence, S Kiusumew Yimchunger in his address urged all the apex bodies of Sangtam to uphold the unity among all communities and be a bridge between existing tribes in the district.
He assured that he was doing his best to serve the people of Kiphire as an MLA in every possible way.
In his presidential address, Er HAlongse Sangtam, President of USGOU, expressed gratitude for being part of the historic celebration. He said the jubilee was “a call to honour the past, inspire the present, and shape the future.”
He informed that USGOU currently has 261 members and stressed that the union has always remained connected with other organisations, including ENPO and USSC. “Only by coming together can we move forward and upward,” he said.
The jubilee celebration featured cultural performances, a community feast, and concluded with a business session attended by all officers and members.
