5th edition of Nagaland Fashion Week begins in Kohima

With an aim to provide a platform for local talent to showcase their work, connect with industry professionals and represent the states unique artistry on national and international stages, the Nagaland Designers Association organized their 5th edition of Nagaland Fashion Week 2025 under the theme “Ethno Mosaic” on November 13 at Central Plaza, Kohima .

The first day witnessed launching of stalls by Rev Vikuo Rhi, Pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church, Kohima. Rhi highlighted that the collective effort of the Nagaland Designers Association (NDA) and all participants is making a significant impact in promoting local talent and self-dependence among Nagaland’s youth.

The 5th edition of Nagaland Fashion Week (NFW) 2025 show parade featured Mesho K Jimo, Face of NFW 2023, and showcased stunning collections from talented designers, including Echoes of the Ancestors by Designer Pavini Kiho, Echoes of Elegance by Designer Kekhrielhoutuonuo Rutsa, The Art of Mongolian by Designer Runoni Tep, World Within One by NR Studio Team 1, Ethnic Blooms by The LA MISKA and Inherited Grace by IWSN School of Design

The event also featured a special performance by Jewel Reneh Sasü with “Please Don’t Go”.

Judges for the NFW were Mary Puro Lorin, Senior Lecturer, Government Polytechnic, Kohima, Department of Fashion Technology, Hoyili Wokhami , former Senior Supervisor Retail Landmark Dubai and Kavili Kiba, Vice President Nagaland Designers Association.

The Nagaland Designers Association is a collective body of creative minds, formed to nurture, promote and empower designers and allied professionals across Nagaland. Nagaland Designers’ Association aims to promote the rich Naga traditional attires and textiles through innovative interpretations and creations while focusing on the use of Made in Nagaland textiles.

Embracing the theme ‘Ethno Mosaic,’ the 5th Edition of Nagaland Fashion Week will bring about a vibrant, multicultural concept that celebrates the cultural diversity of the Naga tribes through the ingenious fusion of various ethnic elements, patterns, textiles, and colors to create a cohesive yet eclectic look.

About Nagaland Fashion Week

The Nagaland Fashion Week (NFW) was launched in the year 2017. Since then, it has worked tirelessly towards promoting the Naga textiles industry while nurturing local talents in various specialties such as Indigenous weavers, designers, fashion retailers etc.

The Nagaland Designers’ Association (NDA) successfully presented its 1st Edition of the NFW 22nd – June 24, 2017 under the theme ‘Inspire’. The Second Edition of NFW was held from October 30 to November 4, 2018 with ‘Evolve’ as the theme. The Third Edition with the theme ‘Naturally Nagaland-Going Glocal’ was held on December 7 & 8, 2022. Themed ‘ Native Epitome’ the 4th Edition of NFW was held on December 6 & 7, 2023.

The growth seen in the involvement of local fashion innovators in exploring the potential of the fashion industry both at the state and national levels attests to the realization of the aspirations of the Nagaland Fashion Week (NFW).

The proposed 5th Edition of the NFW 2025 aims to showcase the feasibility of incorporating Nagaland artisans as an integral component to the creation of unique fashion pieces while also incentivizing the need for improving proficiency among the local artisans. The following objectives are in focus for this edition of the NFW

Nagaland Designers’ Association

The NDA, a non-profit organization, was formed in the year 2008 by several introspective designers of Nagaland with the objective of reviving and promoting the Naga traditions and textiles, also to encourage the young generation on self-employment, utilizing their-talent and creativity. Keeping in mind the aggravating unemployment issue in the government sector, the foundation is focused on enabling the Naga youths to explore sustainable possibilities in the field of creative designing. The association believes there is immense scope in diverting meaningful employment to the young generation through self-employment. Towards this goal, it also aims at enterprising gifted youths of the state.

The NDA was officially launched by the present Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio on November 6, 2011, and is registered to the home department under the registration number No. Home/SRC-6388 dated 31-07-2012.

Its members are all proficiently trained from various reputed fashion institute within India. They have staged shows and fashion event in and outside the state, for some of which they have been awarded laurels.  The NDA at present has 31 members, 5 logistics board members and 5 impact teams.
