Chairman DPDB Wokha and Advisor Law & Justice Dr Chumben Murry launched a Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU) during the Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting on 16 November 2022.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman DPDB Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS, at DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha.

The main objective of the MVU is to increase the accessibility of veterinary services to the farmers at doorstep. The MVU is customized and equipped to provide veterinary health care through a single-window delivery system in the form of making a diagnosis, treatment, minor surgeries, collection of samples, vaccination and artificial insemination, etc.

During the meeting, two new members were introduced and welcomed by the board, namely, Chief Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Mhonchan Shitiri and District Programme Officer (DPO) of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Namhuheing.

At the monthly meeting, the proposal for upgradation of GHS to GHSS, Wokha village was approved and recommended by the board.

While approving and recommending the proposal for registration of Rifle Association Wokha the Chairman DPDB Wokha Dr Chumben Murry reminded the association members that shooting should be an art and should be purely on sports activity and not for hunting purpose as hunting is banned all over the State.

During the meeting, Sr Dental Surgeon & District Nodal Officer of the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Dr Daisy gave a presentation on the implementation of Tobacco-free educational institution guidelines in Wokha district, where she pointed out that out of 189 educational institutions in Wokha district the COTPA team under NTCP has covered 67 educational institutions in spreading awareness and sensitizing about the harmful and ill effect of the use of tobacco products.

Reacting to the action plan, Deputy Commissioner reminded the School Education department NTCP team to give more effort to achieve the target of making tobacco-free zone in all educational institutions by 31 January 2023.

Chief Medical Officer Wokha also presented activities undertaken to eliminate and eradicate TB & Malaria in the district.
