The Konyak Union Mon Unit (KUMU) conducted an inspection of the construction site of the upcoming Mon Medical College and the ongoing Aboi road construction on November 28, expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work while issuing a strong warning against any form of unauthorised interference.

During the inspection, KUMU acknowledged the efforts of KKP Rulhe and the Medical College Mon construction team, as well as MS Affluent Enterprise, which is executing the road project. The Union appreciated both agencies for maintaining steady progress in works that are crucial for the development and welfare of the district.

Emphasising the importance of ensuring uninterrupted progress, the Union called for a renewed commitment from the concerned authorities to diligently complete the project and urged prompt submission of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) where necessary. KUMU cautioned that failure to take corrective measures may lead to further consequences.

Raising a serious concern, the Union stated that unofficial taxation, monetary demands, or any form of collection from the construction agencies or their workforce by any group will not be tolerated. It noted that such practices negatively affect the quality, pace and eventual completion of major public projects. KUMU affirmed that any group found imposing or collecting illegal taxes from the construction entities would face stern action as deemed appropriate by the Union.

The Union also appealed to citizens not to obstruct the existing road and to extend full cooperation during the construction period. It reminded the public that the Medical College and the Aboi road are vital public assets meant for the welfare and future of the people of Mon.

Any unauthorised intervention or hindrance, it said, would only delay much-needed progress in the district.
