Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Henok B Buchem has informed that the Khonoma Youth Organization and the SDRF conducted a spot survey and verification at the Western Dzükou fire incident site on December 16 and reported that the fire has been completely extinguished and there are no signs of any further fire hazards.

Accordingly, the decision has been made to officially call off and suspend all operations with immediate effect.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the State government, NSDMA, Khonoma Village Council, Khonoma Youth Organization, Western Angami Youth Organization, SDO Civil Sechu-Zubza, Kohima Police / SDPO North and personnel, District Commandant and SDRF of HG, CD & SDRF, Nodal Officer DDMA, Kohima Range Forest Officer and personnel, OC and personnel of Fire & Emergency Services, IAF, and all local volunteers and well-wishers for rendering exemplary service and ensuring that the fire was contained and the damage to the Dzükou valley was minimized.

It may be noted that the IAF was also pressed into action to contain the Dzükuo fire.
