A crucial mini-bridge, connecting the YBBA Mission Centre, Shiponger, and Leangkongru, was officially inaugurated on December 16. This infrastructure development marks a significant step towards improving daily life and connectivity for residents within the newly upgraded Shamator district.
Shihto Shipong, Ward President of Shipong-1, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the persistent difficulties faced by students, community members, and the public, especially during the rainy season.
“Even after the inauguration of Shamator town, students and the public faced immense problems traversing this area for daily errands. Flooding and slippery conditions made crossing difficult and hazardous. We are deeply grateful to Shri. Yanba Showuba, Advisor to the YTC, who readily agreed to our request, supplying all necessary materials and overseeing the construction of this much-needed mini-bridge. His assistance is a great help to the community,” he said.
Kiumuhen, President of the Public Forum, lauded Yanba Showuba’s consistent efforts to uplift the community.
He said as a district headquarter and a newly inaugurated district, there are often gaps in essential services but Yanba Showuba has consistently stepped up, in ways both big and small, to fulfill the needs that the government and the Public Forum have been unable to address.
Kiumuhen said Showuba has been dedicated to development and aiding the poor and needy even before the age of publicity, and has committed to continued support.
Stating that his actions set a powerful example for future generations, Kiumuhen urged everyone to follow his lead and pledge to help our people in our own capacities.
Yanba Showuba YTC Advisor, acknowledged the development efforts of the Government of Nagaland under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who upgraded Shamator to a district in 2023. However, he stressed the need for collective action.

He appreciated the various developments and schemes the state Government is trying to bring. “Nevertheless, Shamator is a large district, and relying solely on one MLA for the whole district of Shamator or the government presents a significant challenge,” he said and appealed to all not to depend entirely on the local MLA, the government, or the leaders alone but everyone must in their own capacity, lend a hand to the government, district administration, and law-enforcing agencies to foster development.
Showuba concluded his speech by emphasizing the symbolic importance of the structure. He said just as the mini-bridge facilitates easier travel and connection, let it serve as an example to be a bridge of unity within and between the people and neighbouring communities, fostering love and understanding.
He also urged everyone to support the governing bodies and cooperate with all tiers of government to bring development to their land. He further assured everyone that he would do his best for any needs of Shamator district headquarters in the future and coordinate with the state Government for greater cause to bring whatever is necessary for the welfare of the people.
