The Thenyizumi Students’ Union (TSU) on Tuesday conducted the 72nd General Session at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Thenyizumi village under Phek district.
Addressing the event as Special Guest, Nagaland’s Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, emphasized the need to revive and uphold cultural, traditional and religious identity in present-day Naga society, cautioning that the erosion of identity poses a serious challenge to the community.
Khamo stressed that the family remains the foundation of a progressive society. In this regard, he encouraged families to observe Family Week during the festive season to reflect, plan life goals and seek God’s guidance through prayer.
Khamo said there is no obstacle that cannot be turned into an opportunity and urged the younger generation to become creators rather than seekers. He emphasized the need for individuals to be contributors to society, adding that a positive mindset can bring positive change.
Stating that building a good society requires collective effort, Khamo highlighted the realities of a highly competitive world, whether in business, education or farming. He said that without preparation there is no place in today’s competitive environment and stressed the need to understand reality and remain prepared.
The Advisor also advised parents not to insist that all children become government servants, encouraging them instead to explore business, entrepreneurship and project-based initiatives. He pointed out that taxes generated from businesses contribute to national development and described business as a viable and lucrative option.

Khamo further advised students not to be anxious about failing to secure government jobs or owning businesses, but to rely on God’s divine purpose, asserting that every profession carries dignity. He warned that the loss of culture could lead to the loss of identity and expressed concern over the weakening of religious values, urging the youth to stand firm on the Bible and prayer.
Encouraging students to dream big, have vision, trust in God and work diligently, Khamo said that no matter how crowded the world becomes, there is always room for honest and hardworking individuals. He also stressed the importance of upholding honesty and leading a prayerful life.
Honoured Guest Dr Pritpal Kaur, Superintendent of Police (SP), Phek, stressed the importance of education, stating that success is not defined by religion or gender but is achieved through hard work and dedication. She encouraged students to pursue meaningful dreams aimed at serving society.
Dr Kaur also urged students to use mobile technology responsibly and to embrace AI and modern tools without abandoning cultural roots.
Vepozoyi Theyo, President, Chokri Area Public Organisation (CAPO) and Head Gaon Bura, Thenyizu cautioned about the abuse of smart phone, while he also exhorted the students to be committed to their vocation with all sincerity while warning about laziness that kills all dreams.
Earlier presidential address was delivered by Aveto Resu, folk songs were presented by Thenyizumi Women Society led by its Chairperson Vezhosalu Dawhuo and Men Folk led by Nekhwuta Theyo.
The programme was led by Kehuzhoyi Resu, General Secretary TSU, invocation prayer was offered by C Kroso Kezo, Pastor TBC, educational statistical report was presented by Ruvezo Swuro, Education and Statistical Secretary and benediction prayer was offered by Rev Vekhohu Dawhuo, Associate Pastor, CRC Thenyizumi.
