Maj General Harinder Singh Mavi today assumed the charge of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) after Maj Gen Manish Kumar relinquished the command of IGAR (N).
According to a press release, Major General Harinder Singh Mavi was commissioned into the 2 JAT Regt in June 1994. He has earlier served as a Company Commander in Assam Rifles in North Sikkim, commanded an Infantry Battalion in Jammu and subsequently a Mountain Brigade at Binnaguri.
He is a post graduate from the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and also attended the Higher Command Course at Army War College, Mhow.
The General Officer has immense operational experience having served extensively in Jammu & Kashmir and the Northeast.
