The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has expressed serious concern over the recent expose involving the Nagaland State Transport (NST) Department, wherein selected candidates for the posts of Conductors, Mechanic Helpers and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) were allegedly asked to pay an amount of Rs 10000 each under the pretext of “paper work”

Stating that such practices are not only unethical but also a blatant violation of transparency, fairness and merit-based recruitment, the Union said exploiting unemployed youth by demanding money after selection is deeply disturbing and unacceptable in a democratic system.

The DNSU demanded an immediate, impartial and time-bound investigation into the matter; identification and strict legal action against all individuals involved, irrespective of their position or influence; and assurance from the concerned department that such practices would not be repeated and that recruitment processes would remain transparent and accountable.

Making it clear that it would not tolerate any form of corruption, bribery or exploitation of students and job-seeking youths, the DSNU said it would continue to monitor the situation closely and reserves the right to initiate democratic and lawful measures if justice is delayed or denied.

It also urged the Government of Nagaland and the concerned authorities to take this issue with seriousness and restore public trust in the recruitment system.
