ANATG-2015: RPP accuses Nagaland govt on backtracking regularisation commitment

The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has justified the cause of the All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) 2015 batch, asserting that “the state government has backtracked on its commitment to regularize the adhoc teachers”.

In a press release issued on February 7, the RPP acknowledged in accordance to the claims made by ANATG-2015, that after sustained protests in 2018 and 2022, the state government set up a High-Powered Committee (HPC) which clearly stipulated that the government would regularise the services of the group within a stipulated time.

“While the RPP will not go into the merits and demerits of the issue, what is important is that the state government has backtracked on its commitment to regularize the adhoc teachers and therefore the ANATG-2015 is completely justified in undertaking the present stir against the betrayal of the NPF-BJP coalition government,” maintained the party.

It urged the state government to treat the issue seriously, fulfil its commitment without delay and stop indulging in further delay tactics.

“An important issue such as this involving the future and livelihoods of thousands of teachers and students cannot be allowed to drag on for years but the insensitivity and misplaced priorities of this government is utterly deplorable. Every sensible person is aghast that because of the insensitivity of the government the poor teachers are been made to suffer for decades,” added the RPP.

It also remarked that while the government talks about good governance, it should realise that good governance begins only when it starts treating its employees with dignity and respect.

The RPP also cautioned the state government not to escalate the issue further. “In democratic protests, unions and entities have the right to gather, raise slogans and submit memorandums. These activities should not be construed as anti-government nor should the authorities take umbrage. Elites in positions of power should stop this differential treatment of the voiceless minority whose only fault is to fight for their own rights and dignity,” it added.
